Ad refund requests

Tapper's main job is to stop invalid traffic before it is billed. For the smaller share that still gets charged, Tapper gives you the data to ask Google Ads for a credit. Invalid traffic also distorts your campaign metrics and can make performance look stronger than it is.

What to expect

  • Most invalid traffic never reaches your invoice. Block excludes it before you pay for it.
  • A refund is never guaranteed. Google applies its own criteria and decides each claim.
  • Evidence makes the difference. A Tapper report with timestamps, IP addresses, GCLIDs and campaign data makes a claim stronger. The signals Tapper records line up with how Google defines invalid clicks.
  • Google's timing. Google accepts claims for clicks up to 60 days old, and a review can take several weeks.

The process

  1. Detect the issue in your Tapper dashboard: unusual click patterns or suspicious traffic sources.
  2. Generate the Tapper refund report for the period.
  3. Submit your claim through Google's contact form.
  4. Answer follow-up questions if Google asks for more.
  5. Receive the credit in your Google Ads account if Google approves.

How refunds for invalid clicks work has the details, and Requesting refunds from Google Ads walks through Google's form.
