Before Relay is switched on for an ad account

On this page

Tapper's team switches Relay on with you, one ad account at a time. Each switch-on is recorded, and each ad account can be switched off on its own.

What is checked first

  • Google Ads. The Google user connected to Tapper has Admin or Standard access to the account, and the account has accepted Google's customer data terms.
  • Meta Ads. Whether Shopify's Facebook & Instagram channel or Campaign Autopilot already sends your purchases to Meta, so Relay never doubles them.

Test first, then on

On Relay > Destinations, each ad account shows where it stands:

  • Off. Relay sends no sales to this ad account.
  • Test. Sales reach the ad account as test events, which the platform does not count. On Meta they appear under Test Events in Events Manager. On Google Ads, Google checks each upload without recording it.
  • On. Every sale Tapper cleared for this ad account is sent to it.

Moving an ad account from Test to On is a new switch-on with Tapper's team.

Choose where your sales go

Once Relay is on for an ad account, you choose which sales it gets:

  1. Go to Relay > Destinations and press Manage on the ad account.
  2. Press Settings.
  3. Under Send sales to, choose one:
    • Only the platforms the buyer came from, the default. The ad account gets a sale only when Tapper captured a click of this platform at the buyer's visit.
    • Every connected platform. The ad account gets every sale Tapper cleared on your site, whichever platform the buyer came from. Each platform credits itself only when it matches the buyer.
  4. Save.

A workspace owner, admin or manager can change it. The same Relay settings are on the ad account's row in Setup > Ad accounts.

Switch off

Ask your Tapper team. Relay stops sending to that ad account at once, and it reads Off on Destinations. Your other ad accounts carry on.

Watch it work

Relay > Overview shows how many ad accounts Relay is sending to, what went where, and why anything was held. Relay > Activity lists every conversion, sent or held, with its reason.
