Point your Meta campaigns at Relay's purchases

On this page

Relay sends your sales to Meta as its own event, TapperRelayPurchase. One custom conversion in your ad account turns that event into something a campaign can optimise on.

The custom conversion

With your approval, Tapper's team adds one custom conversion to your Meta ad account:

  • Name: Tapper - Relay Purchase Custom Conversion
  • Source: the dataset Relay sends your sales to
  • Rule: the event TapperRelayPurchase, so every Relay purchase counts
  • Category: Purchase, so it carries each sale's value and currency

It is added once. Setting it up again adds nothing new.

Optimise a campaign on it

  1. In Meta Ads Manager, create a campaign with the Sales objective, or a new ad set in one.
  2. Set the conversion location to Website.
  3. In the ad set, choose the dataset Relay sends to.
  4. Under Conversion event, choose Tapper - Relay Purchase Custom Conversion. It is listed with the dataset's custom conversions, not with the standard events.
  5. Keep the attribution setting your account already uses.

Keep your counts clean

  • Start with a new ad set or campaign. Changing the conversion event of a running ad set restarts its learning phase and moves its delivery.
  • One event per campaign. Relay's purchase and your pixel's Purchase are separate events. If your pixel already sends Purchase, keep your current campaigns on it and give Relay's purchases their own ad set or campaign.
  • Never add the two together. Report each one on its own, in your ad account's currency.

Check that it counts

In Meta Events Manager, open your custom conversions. Tapper - Relay Purchase Custom Conversion shows its source dataset and starts showing activity once Relay's live purchases arrive. In the ad set, it appears in the Conversion event list.

Remove it

Move any campaign that optimises on it to another event first. Then archive or delete it in Events Manager, under custom conversions.
