Block: rules and exclusions
How Block decides, the detection rules and manual exclusions.
How Block decides
- How Tapper decides a click is invalidEvery check a click goes through, the switch or field that controls it on the Web detection rules tab, and the block reason it leaves.
- Block reasons explained: what each label meansEvery block reason label in the app, what produces it, which setting controls it and where it shows: Clicks, Exclusions, dashboard and refunds.
- Doesn't Google already filter invalid clicks?Google credits some charged invalid clicks after a claim. Tapper excludes the source in your ad account so it stops seeing your ads.
Web detection rules
- Web detection rules: every setting on the tabA top-to-bottom tour of the Web detection rules tab: domains, rule sets, thresholds, detection features, aborted clicks, Blocking and defaults.
- Set invalid click thresholdsHow the Allow up to N ad clicks within M rules work, how many you get, how to pick values, and when one allowed click makes sense.
- Suggested thresholds by industryThe 14 industry presets behind Suggest rules and the onboarding industry picker, printed in full so you can compare before you apply one.
- Detection features: what each switch doesBlock JavaScript-disabled browsers, VPN blocking and Behavior analysis: what each switch does, what Tapper recommends and the defaults.
- Block or allow clicks by countrySet the Block IPs by country rule as a block list or an allow list, and why it is a second layer behind your ad platform's location targeting.
- Suspicious ad clicks and minimum seconds on siteThe two number rows under Detection features: block an IP after N clicks with no events, or after a visit shorter than N seconds.
- Aborted ad clicks: block IPs whose clicks never load your pageWhat an aborted ad click is, how the Allow up to N aborted ad clicks within M rule works, the onboarding preset and the later valid session exception.
- Rule sets: apply different rules to platforms, ad accounts or campaignsEvery entity has a default rule set that applies everywhere. Create custom sets, scope them with Applies to, rename or delete them.
