Create and manage API keys

On this page

API keys let your own systems use the Tapper API. Keys belong to the workspace, not to you, so each workspace has its own.

Before you start

  • You need to be an Owner or Admin. Managers and Viewers cannot create or manage keys.
  • API keys is in Settings on every paid plan and during the free trial.
  • A workspace holds at most 10 keys. Keys remaining on your plan shows how many are left.

Create a key

  1. Open Settings and choose API keys (https://app.tapper.ai/settings/api-keys).
  2. Click Create key. The Create new API key dialog opens.
  3. In API key name, name the key after the system that will use it.
  4. Click Create. Tapper shows the full key with a copy button.
  5. Copy the key and store it somewhere safe, such as your password manager or your system's secret store.

The API keys section with Create key, Keys remaining on your plan and the masked key list

The full key is shown only now. After you close the dialog, the list shows it masked and Tapper cannot show it again. If you lose a key, delete it and create a new one.

Rename or delete a key

  1. Click Manage on the key's row. The Manage API key dialog opens.
  2. To rename it, change API key name and click Update.
  3. To delete it, click Delete, then Delete key. Anything still using that key stops working immediately.

Delete keys you no longer use, for security and to free a slot.
