Invite members and set their roles
On this page
Before you start
- You need to be the Owner or an Admin. Managers and Viewers see the members but cannot invite, change or remove anyone.
- Every person takes a seat, the owner included, and so does each pending invitation. When your plan caps seats, Members shows {n} of {max} seats used, counting invitations not yet accepted. Your plan's seats are under Billing.
Invite someone
- Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, click Settings, then Members (
https://app.tapper.ai/settings/members). - Click Invite member. The Invite a member dialog opens.
- Type the person's address in Email.
- Choose a Role: Admin, Manager (the default) or Viewer, who cannot change anything, Lift included. What each role can do and Roles explain them.
- Click Send invitation.
What the invited person gets
- An email titled You've been invited to join {workspace} on Tapper with an Accept invitation button.
- An existing Tapper account is added at once; the link just signs them in. A new address creates a login (password, Google or SSO) and joins in one step: see Accept a workspace invitation.
- Until they join, their row reads Invited.
- Invitations do not expire. A link stops working only when you send that address a newer invitation or withdraw it.
Change someone's role
Open the menu at the end of the person's row. It shows their role, checked (for example Current role: Admin). Click Change role to Admin, Change role to Manager or Change role to Viewer.
This works for pending invitations too. The owner's row has no menu. An admin who makes themselves a Manager or Viewer loses the member controls at once.
Remove a member or withdraw an invitation
- Open the menu on the person's row.
- Click Remove collaborator for a member, or Withdraw invitation for a pending invite (which also offers Resend invite).
- Confirm.
Either way, the seat is freed. A withdrawn invitation's link stops working at once. Removing a member takes away their access to this workspace at once and withdraws any invitation still pending for their address here. Nothing else is deleted: their Tapper login and any other workspaces they belong to stay as they are. Signing in later through your company's single sign-on does not bring them back; invite them again if they need access.
People who join through single sign-on
With Create accounts automatically on, anyone who logs in with your single sign-on joins without an invite, with the role in Role for new members (Viewer unless you change it). Nobody becomes an owner this way. See Set up single sign-on (SSO) for your workspace.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The email never arrived | Ask them to check spam. Check their row shows Invited with the right address; if not, withdraw it and invite the right one. |
| You cannot invite anyone | Your role is Manager or Viewer. Ask the owner or an admin. |
| Your plan includes {n} team members per workspace. Upgrade to add more. | Every seat is used, pending invitations included. Free one, or choose a plan with more seats under Billing. |
| You want to hand the workspace to someone else | Write to support@tapper.ai. Tapper support transfers ownership. |
