Roles: what owners, admins, managers and viewers can do

On this page

Every person in a workspace has one of four roles.

RoleIn one line
OwnerOwns the workspace. Can do everything an Admin can.
AdminManages people and connections, plus everything a Manager can do.
ManagerChanges rules, campaigns and alert rules.
ViewerSees everything. Changes nothing.

How roles work

  • Roles are per workspace. You can own one workspace and be a Viewer in another. In your list of workspaces, Member only means you are not the owner.
  • Exactly one owner. The owner created the workspace, unless Tapper support has transferred it since. Ownership cannot be given or taken in Members; Tapper support transfers it on request at support@tapper.ai.
  • Other roles are set at invitation. The owner or an admin picks the role (Manager by default) and can change it later: see Invite members and set their roles.
  • Single sign-on can add people. They arrive with the role in Role for new members, Viewer by default, never as owner.
  • The plan follows the owner. A workspace's seats, limits and included pages come from its owner's plan: see Billing.
  • Your own settings are yours. Every role manages its own profile, password, two-factor authentication and theme in Profile.

Controls you cannot use

A control your role cannot use is dimmed and says who can. For example, connecting an ad account says Only a workspace owner or admin can connect an account. Ask one of them to connect it for you. Ask the owner or an admin to make the change or to change your role. See Only a workspace owner or admin can connect an account.
