What is the GCLID parameter?
The Google Click ID (GCLID) is a unique identifier Google Ads assigns to each click on your ads. It carries details such as the campaign, the exact time, the network (for example Search or Display), and the ad group and ad clicked.
How Tapper uses it
- Spotting duplicates. If several clicks look identical on your dashboard, compare their GCLIDs. Google charges once per unique GCLID, so a repeated GCLID was not charged again.
- Evidence for invalid clicks. Tapper stores the GCLID with the click and uses it in the Google refund report.
See Click IDs: GCLID, WBRAID and GBRAID, and where Tapper shows them.
