Set up the TikTok invalid traffic audience

Tapper Block sends the event TAPPER_INVALID_TRAFFIC through your TikTok Pixel for each invalid visitor your TikTok ads bring. Turn that event into an audience in TikTok Ads Manager, once per ad account, and send Tapper its ID. You get a live view of those visitors in TikTok. It takes a few minutes.

Before you start

Create the audience

  1. In TikTok Ads Manager, open Tools and choose Audiences.
  2. Click Create Audience, choose Custom Audience, then select Website Traffic.
  3. Under People who've carried out the following actions, select TAPPER_INVALID_TRAFFIC and set the time period to the past 90 days.
  4. Under Through the following pixels, select your TikTok Pixel. Leave the URL and parameter filters empty, so no invalid visitor is left out.
  5. Leave Auto-refresh on, so TikTok keeps adding new invalid visitors.
  6. Name the audience Invalid visitors - pixel event and click Confirm.

Use only the event TAPPER_INVALID_TRAFFIC, with no URL or parameter filter. Another event or a filter gives you an audience that holds other visitors or misses invalid ones.

Send Tapper the audience ID

  1. In Tools > Audiences, copy the new audience's ID.
  2. Email it to support@tapper.ai, or to your Tapper contact, with your entity name and TikTok ad account ID. Customer success keeps it on record and replies by email.

Sending the ID does not change how the audience fills. You see its size in TikTok Ads Manager.

If something looks wrong

  • TAPPER_INVALID_TRAFFIC is not in the list. Check that the monitoring script and your TikTok Pixel are both on your site, and that the account shows Connected in Tapper. If it is still missing, email support@tapper.ai before you go on, and we check that your site is sending it.
  • You are not sure which audience is which. Send us both IDs and we tell you.
