Protect Meta ad sets: Protect all or one at a time
On this page
Connecting a Meta account protects no ad set. Switch an ad set on and Tapper adds its invalid traffic audience to it as an exclusion; switch it off and Tapper removes it. In Ads Manager, a protected ad set lists Tapper - Invalid Traffic Audience under Audience controls. How the audience fills is in How Block protects Meta ads.
Before you start
- A workspace with Block and a Meta ad account connected to the entity. See Connect Meta Ads.
- The Owner, Admin or Manager role. Viewers can see the list but not change it.
- The account row shows Connected. If it shows Needs reconnecting or Needs attention, reconnect first: see Reconnect an ad account that stopped working.
Open the Ad sets tab
- Pick the entity in the sidebar switcher if you have more than one.
- Under Setup, click Ad accounts, then Meta Ads.
- Click the Ad sets tab, or Manage ad sets on an account row to see that account's ad sets.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Ad account | The Meta ad account the ad set belongs to |
| Ad set | The ad set's name and ID |
| Campaign | The campaign, with its ID |
| Protection | The switch: on means the ad set excludes Tapper's audience |
Narrow the list with Search ad sets or campaigns and the ad account filter. The buttons at the top act on everything that matches, not only the page you see.
Protect one ad set
Turn on the ad set's Protection switch. It saves at once. Turn it off to remove the exclusion.
Protect every ad set at once
- To protect only some, narrow the list first.
- Click Protect all. Tapper switches on every matching ad set in the background; refresh the page after a moment to see the switches on.
Protect all shows while no ad set on the current page is protected. Once one is, the button reads Disable protection and switches off every matching ad set. To protect the rest of a partly protected list, switch the others on one at a time.

Keep the list up to date
- Refresh ad sets reads your campaigns and ad sets from Meta now. Tapper also reads them when you connect, so a new ad set may be missing until you refresh. Then switch on the new ones you want protected.
- Export downloads every matching ad set as a CSV file: ad account, campaign and ad set names and IDs, and the Protection state.
If something goes wrong
- "No ad sets found." Clear the search or pick another ad account. Ad sets created after the last sync appear after Refresh ad sets.
- The switch fails with a message about the account. Tapper has lost access to it. Reconnect Meta if the row shows Needs reconnecting or Needs attention; see Ad account status: Connected, Needs reconnecting, Not active, Needs attention.
- "Audience exclusion can't be created for this ad set." Meta refused the change. Check the ad set still exists in Ads Manager, click Refresh ad sets and try again. If it keeps failing, email support@tapper.ai with the entity name and the ad set ID.
