The Google Ads page: a tour of every section
On this page
The Google Ads page lists the entity's connected Google Ads accounts, the campaigns Tapper Block protects in them and the settings Tapper keeps there.
Under Setup, click Ad accounts, then Google Ads in the platform list (on a phone, in the select at the top). Pick the entity in the sidebar switcher first if you have more than one. With no account connected, the page shows only Connect Google Ads; see Connect Google Ads.
The tabs are Ad accounts, Campaigns, Ad groups, Tapper goals, Tracking template and Invalid traffic audience.
Ad accounts
| On the row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name and ID | The account's name over its Google Ads customer ID. |
| Status chip | Connected, Needs reconnecting, Not active or Needs attention. In error, a sentence says what happened and what to do. |
| Manage campaigns | Opens Campaigns filtered to this account. |
| Reconnect | Shows only when the account is in error. |
| ⋮ menu | Holds Disconnect. |
Add ad account connects another account to the same entity. Accounts in error get a tick box, and Reconnect N selected repairs several with one Google sign-in. See Ad account status: Connected, Needs reconnecting, Not active, Needs attention and Disconnect an ad account.
Campaigns and Ad groups
The toolbar has a search box, an ad account filter, Refresh (reads the campaign list from Google Ads now) and, on Campaigns, Export (CSV).
On Campaigns, Search, Display, Shopping, Demand Gen and Performance Max rows have a Protection switch, with chips for Audience Exclusion, Value Rule Exclusion and Tapper goal. The row's ⋮ menu holds Create shadow campaign (Search and Shopping without one yet) and Attach Tapper goal, Edit Tapper goal attachment and Detach Tapper goal.
On Ad groups, the Audience Segment Exclusion chip marks ad groups that exclude Tapper's audience, which is how Demand Gen is protected.
See Choose which campaigns Tapper protects, Which exclusions Tapper applies to each Google Ads campaign type and Value rules and shadow campaigns: optional extras for Performance Max, Search and Shopping.
Tapper goals
This tab belongs to Tapper Vantage. Each goal creates a conversion action and a custom goal in Google Ads, which you attach to the campaigns that should bid on it. Nothing is created until you click New Tapper goal. With two or more Google Ads accounts there is an account filter. Each goal shows:
- Active or Paused, with a switch.
- Observing, with Manage campaigns to see the campaigns feeding the goal.
- Bidding: "Not driving bidding" or "Driving N campaigns".
See Tapper goals: let Google bid on predicted conversion value.
Tracking template
Has a Copy the tracking template button. Tapper sets the account-level template itself; copy it only for a campaign, ad group or ad with its own template, which the dashboard flags with "Some ads skip Tapper's tracking". See The Google Ads tracking template: what Tapper sets and why.
Invalid traffic audience
One row per list Tapper keeps to exclude flagged visitors. Keep each visitor for sets how many days (1 to 540) a visitor stays; it saves when you leave the field or press Enter. Create audience shows on a row whose audience does not exist in Google Ads yet. See The Invalid Traffic Audience and its retention window.
When Google Ads setup doesn't match your protection rules
When campaigns target a country your detection rules block, a panel above the tabs reads "Google Ads setup doesn't match your protection rules". It says how many campaigns are affected and warns "Until this is resolved, budget is buying clicks Tapper is configured to discard."
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Re-check now | Runs the comparison again. |
| Fix in Tapper | Adds the countries to your rule's allow-list. The dialog says "Nothing changes in Google Ads." |
| Fix in Google Ads | Changes the campaign in Google Ads. The dialog warns "This modifies your live Google Ads campaign settings." |
| Dismiss | Marks the mismatch as intentional, after asking "Why is this intentional?" |
See Google Ads setup doesn't match your protection rules.
