Doesn't Google already filter invalid clicks?

Partly. Google filters some invalid clicks and does not charge you for those, but its filtering adds nothing to your account's exclusions: the same IP or device can click your ad again tomorrow. Tapper Block works at the other end. When a click is flagged, Tapper writes an exclusion for its source into your ad account, so that source stops seeing your ads.

What Google does

Google's filtering runs on Google's rules, the same for every advertiser, and the invalid clicks it catches are not charged. For invalid clicks you were charged for, you file a claim yourself on Google's Click Quality form. Google investigates only up to 60 days after a click and credits only invalid clicks you were charged for. The credit arrives after the fact: the budget was spent and the click source is still active.

What Tapper does instead

Tapper acts on each flagged click, inside your account:

  • Google Ads: the IP is excluded on your Search, Display, Shopping and Demand Gen campaigns (Google allows at most 500 IP exclusions per campaign), and the visitor is added to the Invalid Traffic Audience, which Tapper excludes from your protected campaigns.
  • Meta and TikTok: Tapper keeps a custom audience of invalid visitors and excludes it on every ad set (Meta) or ad group (TikTok) whose Protection switch is on. Meta and TikTok have no IP exclusions.

The rules are yours, not Google's. An Invalid click threshold row reads "Allow up to [N] ad clicks within [M] [unit]": ten clicks from one IP in a day may be normal for one business and invalid for another, and you set the number. Suggest rules adds presets for your industry.

Where you see it

Each excluded visitor is listed on the Exclusions page with its Ads account, Campaign, IP address and Block reason. On a monitoring-only workspace the same page is titled Invalid Traffic, because it reports the clicks Tapper would have excluded.

You can still claim the credit

The two are not either-or. The Refunds page builds the evidence file for Google's form from the clicks Tapper blocked: choose a period of up to 30 days and the block reason tiers, then click Generate report. Tapper does not submit the claim. You attach the file to Google's form yourself.
