Nothing is being blocked: what to check
On this page
Tapper shows invalid clicks, but your ad accounts show no exclusions. The sidebar may read Flagged traffic instead of Exclusions, or the Exclusions page says No exclusions in this range.
Why it happens
Tapper Block detects invalid traffic once the monitoring script and an ad account are in place. It writes an exclusion only when every link is there: a paid plan with blocking on, a rule set covering the traffic, a protected campaign, ad set or ad group, a platform Tapper enforces on and a working connection. A missing link stops exclusions but not detection.
Fix it
- Monitor-only. The notice at the top of every page and the entity's chip read Monitor-only. Every new rule set starts this way, and during the free trial (or with no paid plan) the switch is disabled: open Settings > Billing > Talk to sales. On a paid plan, turn it off on the rule set's Monitor-only tab. See Monitor-only.
- Products. A Lift only workspace has no Block: no Exclusions page, rule sets or Protection switches. Blocking needs Block, part of the Block, Vantage and Enterprise plans. See Lift only.
- Every rule set. Each set blocks only with its own Monitor-only off. A custom set not assigned to any campaigns, ad accounts or platforms covers nothing, and the Default set handles the traffic. Link it under Applies to, or turn blocking on in Default. See Rule sets and Applies to.
- Protection switches. On the Google Ads page of Setup > Ad accounts, Campaigns tab, a campaign with Protection off loses Tapper's audience exclusions and value rules. Performance Max never takes IP exclusions; look for Audience Exclusion or Audience Segment Exclusion on its row. On Meta Ads (Ad sets tab), nothing is protected until you switch it on; while none is, Protect all switches on every ad set matching the filter. On TikTok Ads, ad groups show Monitored and need no switching.
- The platform. On Meta Ads, look for Tapper's audience exclusion on the ad set, not IP exclusions. On TikTok Ads, look for the
TAPPER_INVALID_TRAFFICevent in your TikTok Pixel. - The account's status chip. Needs reconnecting, Not active or Needs attention on a row means Tapper's syncs skip it, and Tapper does not email you. Click Reconnect or follow the sentence on the row. See Reconnect an ad account that stopped working.
- The dashboard's delay. Figures update every 4 hours. Check the Exclusions page, or the campaign in Google Ads, for what is already written.
If it still happens
Contact Tapper support with the entity name, the platform and the visitor id of one click you expected to be excluded. On Clicks, View details on a Google Ads or Meta Ads row opens a drawer with the id in its header. See How to get help from Tapper.
