The Sources page: traffic from platforms you have not connected

The Sources page shows ad clicks that reach your website from platforms you have not connected to Tapper. It is not a general traffic report: every platform you have already connected is left out. Use it to spot paid traffic that Tapper can see but cannot protect yet, and to decide which account to connect next.

How it works

Tapper does not need a connected ad account to recognize where a click came from. It reads the click ID in the URL of the visit it observes on your website:

  • An fbclid parameter means the click came from Meta Ads.
  • A ttclid parameter means the click came from TikTok Ads.

Microsoft Ads is not detected yet.

The page always covers the last 30 days. The window is fixed, and days are counted in UTC. The page covers the whole workspace, with no filters.

Once you connect a platform, its traffic moves off this page and into the rest of the product. From then on Tapper can protect it, and you follow it on the Clicks page and the Exclusions page.

What you see in Tapper

Open Sources in the sidebar.

Each unconnected platform that sent you clicks gets one row. Rows are sorted by clicks, highest first.

ColumnWhat it means
PlatformThe ad platform Tapper recognized from the click ID: Meta Ads or TikTok Ads.
ClicksEvery click from that platform Tapper tracked in the last 30 days.
Blocked-equivalentThe blocks Tapper's detection recorded for that platform's traffic in the same 30 days. Nothing is excluded on the platform, because it is not connected, so this is what Tapper would have blocked.
Invalid rateBlocked-equivalent divided by Clicks, shown with one decimal. It reads "-" when there are no clicks.

At the end of each row is a Connect button. It opens the Protected Entities page, where you add the account to one of your entities. See Connect Meta Ads, Connect TikTok Ads or, if the entity already has accounts, Add another ad account to an entity.

When the page is empty or unavailable

  • "No unconnected-platform traffic observed. Every platform sending you clicks is already connected." There is nothing to connect. Either every platform that sent you clicks in the last 30 days is already connected, or Tapper has not observed any Meta or TikTok clicks on your site in that window.
  • "Source data is unavailable right now. The rest of the product is unaffected." Either the page could not load its data, or you are signed in as an Editor member. Reload the page; if you are an Editor member, ask an Owner or Admin.

Lift only workspaces

A Lift only workspace does not have the Sources row. Lift works on your Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads campaigns without the monitoring script, so there is no observed website traffic to list. See Lift only: what your workspace includes and leaves out.
