How Lift works on Snapchat Ads
Snapchat Ads connects to Tapper for Lift, and Tapper only reads it: nothing is ever created, changed or paused in Snapchat. This article covers what Tapper reads from a Snapchat ad account, when it reads it, and what the Lift page shows for it. To connect an account, see Connect Snapchat Ads for Lift.
What Tapper reads, and when
Tapper reads a Snapchat ad account on the connect screen, right after you connect it:
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| The account | Its ID, name, organization, currency, time zone and Snapchat status |
| Your access | The role the signed-in Snapchat user holds on the account, kept as read only or able to make changes |
| Campaigns and ad sets | How many the account has: "Connected: 4 campaigns, 12 ad sets" |
| Spend | Yesterday's total spend, in the account's currency, over the account's own day |
When Snapchat reports no spend figure for the day, the spend line reads not available, never zero. If the first read does not answer, the account stays connected and Try again runs the read again.
Read only, on both sides
Two things keep a Snapchat connection read only:
- Tapper sends only reads. Every request Tapper sends to Snapchat's ads API is a read. The only other request is the sign-in itself.
- The Data Analyst role. You sign in as a user with Snapchat's Data Analyst role, which can read reports and cannot change anything. If the user's role could change the account, the account list says so before you connect: "This user can change this account in Snapchat. Tapper only reads it, but a Data Analyst user is safer."
Block never covers Snapchat: Block's detection rules do not offer it, and Tapper refuses a rule that names it.
What the Lift page shows for a Snapchat account
Lift's daily checks read Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads accounts, so the Lift page holds no Snapchat cards:
- Platform tabs. The tabs above the list are Google Ads, Meta and TikTok, plus Apple Ads and LinkedIn Ads when the workspace has an account on them. Snapchat has no tab.
- Ad account filter. Snapchat accounts are not in the list's Ad account filter.
- An entity whose only ad account is on Snapchat. The Lift page shows Connect an ad account to start Lift with "Once an ad account is connected, Lift checks it every day and its recommendations show here." and the button Connect an ad account. Connect an account on a platform Lift checks, such as Google Ads or Meta Ads, to the same entity to see recommendations there.
- An entity with Snapchat and other accounts. The Lift page shows the other accounts' cards as usual.
Where a Snapchat account shows
- The entity list's Platforms column shows Snapchat Ads for an entity with a Snapchat account.
- The connect screen shows each account's first read, as above.
