Connect Snapchat Ads for Lift

Snapchat Ads connects to Tapper for Lift. Tapper only reads your Snapchat ads and never changes anything in Snapchat: connecting creates nothing in the account, and Block never blocks on Snapchat. You sign in to Snapchat as a separate user with the Data Analyst role, pick an organization, then tick the ad accounts to connect.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role in the workspace. Members with the Manager or Viewer role cannot connect ad accounts.
  • The Snapchat Ads row shows on workspaces that have Lift, Lift only and Block + Lift alike.
  • In Snapchat Business Manager, invite a separate user for Tapper, for example a shared team address.
  • Give that user the Data Analyst role on the ad accounts to connect. Data Analyst can read reports and cannot change anything.
  • Sign in to Snapchat as that user, not as yourself. If Snapchat signs you in as yourself, log out of Snapchat first.

Where to connect

Steps

1. Go to Snapchat

  1. On the Snapchat Ads row, press Connect Snapchat. On a Lift only workspace the row reads "Sign in to Snapchat as your Data Analyst user and pick the ad accounts to connect." On a Block + Lift workspace it reads "For Lift only: Tapper reads Snapchat and never blocks on it. Sign in as your Data Analyst user."
  2. Before you connect Snapchat opens and lists the three things to do in Snapchat Business Manager and at sign-in, as in Before you start. Press Continue to Snapchat.
  3. Snapchat opens in the same tab. Sign in as your Data Analyst user and allow Tapper access. Snapchat then sends you back to Tapper.

2. Choose the organization

The page Choose the accounts to connect reads "Choose the Snapchat organisation, then the ad accounts to connect."

  1. In Organisation, pick the organization that holds the ad accounts. Each choice shows its name and how many ad accounts the user sees in it, for example "Northwind (3 ad accounts)".
  2. When the user sees one organization only, Tapper picks it for you.

Changing the organization clears the accounts you ticked.

3. Tick the ad accounts

Tapper lists every ad account the user can see in the organization, paused ones included. Under each name you see the account's ID, currency and time zone, and its Snapchat status when it is not active, for example Paused.

  • An account the user holds no role on cannot be ticked. It reads "This user has no role on this account. Give it the Data Analyst role in Snapchat Business Manager, then connect again."
  • An account the user could change reads "This user can change this account in Snapchat. Tapper only reads it, but a Data Analyst user is safer." You can still connect it.

Tick the accounts and press Connect (Connect 2 accounts with your own count). Back returns to the list of platforms.

4. Check the first read

Tapper answers for every account at once. The page reads Snapchat Ads connected, or 2 Snapchat Ads accounts connected for several. Under each account's name, Tapper reads the account for the first time ("Reading its campaigns and spend."), then shows two lines:

LineExample
Campaigns and ad setsConnected: 4 campaigns, 12 ad sets
Yesterday's spendSpend yesterday (Oct 18, 2026): $1,240.00

Spend is in the account's own currency, for the previous whole day in the account's own time zone. When Snapchat reports no spend figure for that day, the line ends in not available, never in a zero.

5. Press Done

  • Lift only workspace, during setup: setup ends on the Lift page, with Snapchat Ads accounts connected.
  • Block + Lift workspace, during setup: you go back to Connect an ad account, with "Lift reads it from now on. Next, connect an ad platform to protect." Snapchat counts for Lift only, so connect an ad platform for Block as well.
  • From Add an account: you land on the entity's page, with Snapchat Ads accounts connected.

The entity list's Platforms column then shows Snapchat Ads for the entity.

What Tapper reads

  • At sign-in: the organizations the Snapchat user can see, the ad accounts in each, and for each account its ID, name, currency, time zone, status and the user's role on it.
  • When you connect: Tapper checks that Snapchat returns the account, then keeps its ID, name, organization, currency and time zone, whether the user's role can only read or could make changes, and a Snapchat sign-in key, stored encrypted.
  • On the first read: the number of campaigns, the number of ad sets and yesterday's total spend.

Every request Tapper sends to Snapchat's ads API is a read. Nothing is created, changed or paused in Snapchat.

If something goes wrong

  • "Only a workspace owner or admin can connect an account. Ask one of them to connect it for you.": see Only a workspace owner or admin can connect an account.
  • Connection failed with "Tapper couldn't finish the connection.": the Snapchat sign-in did not finish, for example because you cancelled it on Snapchat's screen. Nothing was connected. See what each sign-in message means.
  • No Snapchat ad accounts found: "The Snapchat user you signed in with can't see any ad accounts. In Snapchat Business Manager, give it the Data Analyst role on the ad accounts to connect, then connect again." Press Connect again and sign in as the Data Analyst user.
  • An organization with no accounts: "The Snapchat user you signed in with sees no ad accounts in Northwind. Choose another organisation, or give the user the Data Analyst role on this organisation's ad accounts." (with your organization's name).
  • "Your Snapchat sign-in has ended. Sign in with Snapchat again.": press Connect again and sign in once more.
  • "Snapchat is busy right now. Try again in a minute.": wait a minute, then try again.
  • "This ad account is connected to another Tapper workspace. Contact Tapper support to move it.": nothing was connected. Contact Tapper support.
  • This Snapchat account is already connected: "They are already connected, so there is nothing to add."

Some accounts did not connect

The page reads, for example, "1 connected, 1 did not. Each account below says why." Not connected names each account with one of these sentences, with the account's ID in place of the one shown here:

  • "The Snapchat user you signed in with has no role on this ad account. In Snapchat Business Manager, give it the Data Analyst role on this account, then try again.": give the role, then press Try again.
  • For any other reason, the line says the account is connected and offers Try again.
