Manually exclude IP addresses and ranges
Exclude an address you know sends invalid clicks, such as a competitor's office, or a range you keep seeing on the Clicks page. The list is Setup > Excluded IPs. It holds only what you add, and Tapper pushes it to your Google Search, Display and Shopping campaigns. What Tapper excludes on its own is on the Exclusions page.
Before you start
- You need the Owner, Admin or Manager role. Viewers see the list but cannot change it.
- The workspace must have Block, and the entity a connected Google Ads account.
Steps
- If your workspace has more than one protected entity, pick it in the switcher at the top of the sidebar.
- In the sidebar, under Setup, click Excluded IPs.
- Click Add addresses.
- In Addresses, enter one entry per line: a single address such as
112.4.5.67, or a CIDR range such as112.4.0.0/16. Click Add. - Each entry shows as a chip, and the count above reads 1 entry or the number of entries.
- Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the page.

Writing a range
Write a CIDR range from its first address:
| Entry | Covers |
|---|---|
112.4.5.67 | That one address |
112.4.5.0/24 | 256 addresses, 112.4.5.0 to 112.4.5.255 |
112.4.0.0/16 | 65,536 addresses, 112.4.0.0 to 112.4.255.255 |
Wildcards such as 112.4.* are not supported.
What happens next
- Saving replaces the whole list. To remove an entry, click the x on its chip and click Save; it leaves your Google campaigns too.
- The page shows the list as saved. A single address comes back as a range of one, so
112.4.5.67reads112.4.5.67/32. A line inside a range already saved is not kept as its own entry, and a saved range stays while any line inside it remains. To swap a range for a smaller one inside it, delete the range and save, then add the smaller range and save. - Tapper pushes the list to Google Ads in the background, as an IP exclusion on each of the entity's Search, Display and Shopping campaigns whose Protection switch is on (see Choose which campaigns Tapper protects). It usually takes minutes. Accounts that need a reconnect are skipped until you reconnect them. To check, open a campaign in Google Ads: Settings, Additional settings, IP exclusions.
- It applies in monitor-only too. This is the one exclusion Tapper writes while the entity only monitors, so clear it if you want monitor-only to leave your campaigns untouched.
- Your entries stay until you remove them. They count toward Google's 500 IP exclusions per campaign together with Tapper's automatic exclusions. When a campaign is full, Tapper rotates its own lower-priority exclusions out, never your entries, so keep the list short. See The 500 IP exclusions per campaign limit in Google Ads.
If something goes wrong
- The save fails: the bar shows the reason and nothing from that save is applied. Usually an entry is not a single address or a range written from its first address, such as
112.4.*or112.4.2.4/23(write112.4.2.0/23). Remove it, add it again written correctly, and save. - The addresses do not appear in Google Ads: see Manually excluded IPs are not showing in Google Ads.
- You cannot find your entries: check you are on the right entity. Each entity has its own list.
- You excluded someone by mistake: remove the entry and save. For exclusions Tapper made on its own, see A real customer was blocked: what you can do.
