Ask Tapper: get answers and set up with the assistant

On this page

Ask Tapper is the assistant inside your Tapper app. Ask in your own words and it reads your account, answers from these help articles with the sources under the answer, and takes you straight to the right page.

Open it

  • Click Ask Tapper in the sidebar. On a phone it is in the menu.
  • Pick Ask Tapper, the first action in the command palette.
  • Press Cmd + / on a Mac or Ctrl + / on Windows, from any page.

The panel opens on the right and stays with you as you move between pages. On a phone it fills the screen. Each page offers a few starter questions, such as What to fix first on Lift or Bot clicks this week on Block.

What it does

  • Answers about your numbers. Ask how a goal is doing, what Lift found, what needs attention or whether events are arriving. It uses your own data and says where it found it.
  • Buttons under the answer. A button opens exactly what it says, such as Connect Google Ads or a page of the app. A button never changes anything by itself.
  • Pointing. Ask where something is and Tapper dims the page and rings the place, with a short note. Press Got it, click anywhere or press Esc to carry on.
  • Changes after you confirm. Before it changes something, such as requesting a Vantage goal, it shows a card, Review before I make this change, with the change itself. Nothing happens until you confirm, and if you cancel nothing changes.

Ask Tapper never switches blocking on or off.

Set up with Ask Tapper

When you create a workspace, the first screen offers Set up with Tapper assistant beside Set up step by step. Tell it about your business and it takes you through each step, asks before each change and checks what is already set up. You can switch to the step pages at any time, and back.

Setup steps carry on where you left off. After you sign in to Google Ads, the panel reopens on the same chat and says what is connected and what comes next. Skip this step moves on without it.

Past chats

Your chats are saved. Click the clock in the panel for Past chats, grouped by Today, Yesterday and Earlier. Open one to carry on, rate answers with the thumbs, or delete a chat with the bin. A chat you delete leaves your history at once. Chats are kept for 90 days.

When the day's questions run low, the panel says how many are left. When they are used up it says No questions left today; ask again tomorrow.

Who can read the chats

You see your own chats. Workspace Owners and Admins see the workspace's chats in Settings > Assistant: when, who, the question and its rating. Open one to read it in full; it cannot be changed from there. Tapper support can read a chat to help you.
