Your Vantage onboarding plan
Onboarding runs in six stages. Vantage > Results shows where your pilot is: Data gathering, Models deployed, A/B test, Read and Live.
The timeline
A pilot runs 90 days from the start of data gathering.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | You connect your data. It takes under an hour. |
| Days 1 to 30 | Data gathering, Fit Check fixes and the Tapper goal set up. |
| Days 30 to 60 | Models deployed. Values start going to Google, and the 50/50 test starts. |
| First 2 weeks of the test | Google learns the values. Leave both halves alone. |
| Every 2 weeks | A check-in with Tapper's team. |
| Day 90 | The read, and you decide what goes live. |
The stages
- Fit Check. Tapper checks your data and ad accounts and sends the verdict: Go, Fix first or Stop. See Is Vantage a fit for your business?
- Connect. You connect your store, CRM, website tag or BigQuery, and your Google Ads accounts. Daily data checks start.
- Fix and set up. Your team or agency fixes what Google counts and moves test campaigns to value-based bidding. You create the Tapper goal; Tapper switches it on after a short review.
- Models deployed. Once you agree to value bidding, Tapper deploys the models between day 30 and day 60 and sends values daily from then on.
- Test. Vantage runs against your current setup in a Google Ads experiment. See How a Vantage pilot is set up.
- Readout. Tapper reads the result on your own outcomes, and you decide whether Vantage goes live. See Your Vantage pilot readout.
Who does what
| Step | Your team | Tapper |
|---|---|---|
| Fit Check | Gives access, answers questions | Runs it, sends the verdict |
| Data source | Connects it (store owner or CRM admin) | Reads it, runs the data checks |
| CRM stages | Confirms which stages mean qualified | Maps them to outcomes with you |
| Counting and bidding | Makes the changes, or your agency does | Names each fix |
| Tapper goal | Creates it, attaches it to test campaigns | Switches it on after review |
| Values | Agrees to value bidding in writing | Sends them daily, checks Google accepts them |
| Test | Approves campaigns, split, dates and measure | Sizes the test, writes it down before launch |
| Readout | Decides what goes live | Reads the result, presents it |
Have ready for kickoff
What to connect for your kind of business: lead generation, e-commerce or subscriptions and apps.
- Who decides, who runs your store or CRM, and who runs Google Ads.
- Admin access to connect your data source, and read access to every ad account in scope.
- How refunds and returns are recorded, including any outside your store.
- The affiliate networks you use.
- Your brand campaign names, so results are split brand and non-brand.
- Your success measure and the confidence you need: 80% unless you set another level.
- How much history to load: the last 90 days, 12 months or your full history.
- With Salesforce, the Click ID field on leads: Add the Click ID field to Salesforce leads.
- For a security review, ask for Tapper's security documents: How Tapper secures your data.
