Connect a mobile app through your tracking tool

On this page

Tapper protects a mobile app through the tool that tracks its installs: AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Kochava or Singular. Add the app, switch on Fraud blocking, then point your tool's callbacks at Tapper.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role.
  • Fraud blocking is part of Block. A Lift only workspace can add an app for Counting (Lift), without Fraud blocking.
  • Have the app's token from your tracking tool. On Kochava, also have the Kochava API Key: Tapper uses it to register its callback in Kochava.

Add the app

  1. With several protected entities, pick the entity in the switcher at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Under Setup, click Mobile app. With no app yet, the add form opens ("No mobile app is connected yet."). Otherwise click Add app at the end of the list.
  3. Fill in Name, Platforms (iOS, Android or both), Tracking tool and the app's token (field names below).
  4. Click Add app.

In a new workspace's wizard, Add mobile app on the Mobile app row of Connect an ad account opens the same form, then the Fraud blocking step.

Switch on Fraud blocking

  1. Open the app in Setup > Mobile app.
  2. Turn on the switch on the Fraud blocking card, then click Switch on.
  3. Copy the Callback address and Secret (for Branch, also the Integration ID) into your tool where the on-screen steps say. The secret is shown once; afterwards only a preview stays on the Access card.

Guides for the tool's side: Adjust and Branch. For AppsFlyer, Kochava and Singular, follow the on-screen steps.

What happens next

  • The Fraud blocking card shows Waiting for first install, then Receiving installs (or Receiving events), or Paused.
  • The Access card is the one place the app's keys are kept: the API token (Connect, then Replace and Disconnect), the callback address and the secret's preview.
  • The Mobile apps group of Setup > Rule sets judges installs and events. Setup > Mobile app > Click tracking builds tracking links for networks that give you a click URL.
  • The dashboard's Mobile tab shows installs, sessions and other metrics from your tool.
  • Tapper detects and records the invalid installs and events your tool sends. It rejects nothing in your tool, so your tool's own data stays as it recorded it.
