Connect Meta Ads for Lift

On this page

Lift checks each connected Meta ad account every day, on Facebook and Instagram, and lists what is worth changing on the Lift page.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role. Managers can use Lift but not connect; Viewers can do neither.
  • Use a Facebook profile with Advertiser or Admin access to each ad account.
  • Lift starts once Tapper has set your workspace up.

These are the Lift only steps. With Block, the screens say "protect" and each account needs a Meta pixel: follow Connect Meta Ads. The product choice locks once any ad account is connected (Choose your products).

Steps

  1. With several entities, pick one in the switcher under the workspace name.
  2. Under Lift, open Business details > Meta > Accounts and press Connect Meta (or Connect another account). Add account on the Meta Ads page of Setup > Ad accounts, and the dashed Meta tab or Connect an ad account in Recommendations, open the same page.
  3. Press Continue with Facebook and share every ad account Lift should check (Meta's screens).
  4. On Choose the accounts to connect, tick each account. Skip Accept the terms on Meta: those terms matter only with Block.
  5. Press Finish. When the page reads Meta Ads connected, Done opens the Meta Ads page, or the Lift page from the wizard.

What Lift reads and changes

Once a day, through the same connection, Lift reads:

  • Configuration: account status, spending limit, balance, currency and time zone; each campaign, ad set and ad's setup (budget, bid, optimization goal, learning stage, attribution setting, frequency caps, targeting, Advantage+ settings, creative); automated rules; custom audiences (name, type, retention).
  • Results: daily figures down to each ad (spend, reach, frequency, clicks, conversions by attribution window, Meta's own result), ad set breakdowns such as placement, age and gender, and video views.
  • Tracking health: Meta's daily event counts and quality, such as Event Match Quality and Conversions API coverage, for each dataset (pixel, Conversions API or CRM) your active ad sets optimize for, and others that fired in the last 7 days.

It never reads the business behind the account, payment card or invoice details, the rules inside your website audiences, lookalike seeds, or who an automated rule notifies.

Connecting on Lift only creates nothing and needs no pixel. Your funnel stages and targets stay in Tapper. On a card, Open in Meta Ads Manager takes you to the right place; make the change, then press Mark as done. Lift never recommends spending more: budget advice is a cut, or a move that keeps the total the same.

When the first cards appear

Tapper first reads 90 days of account and ad set figures and 28 days of the rest, so cards usually appear the next day, under the Meta tab. An ad set already spending can get a card, money included, from the first check. A new ad set gets no card from most checks until it has spent on 7 of the last 28 days, and no money figure before 14 days of spend and the end of its learning phase. Money is per day, in the account's currency.

Each check judges the previous day in the account's reporting time zone. If nothing appears after a few days on a new workspace, contact your Tapper contact (No Lift recommendations yet).

Stages and targets

In the Meta area of Business details, check the Stage map, which decides which ad sets are compared (funnel stages), and set Workspace targets: cost per result, frequency and budget split, per ad account (Meta targets).

If something goes wrong

  • On Lift only, an account connected in another Tapper workspace is refused. An Owner or Admin there disconnects it first.
  • Some accounts did not connect: each shows its reason. Retry later from Setup > Ad accounts.
  • Other messages: Meta Ads account could not be connected.

An account showing Needs reconnecting or Needs attention is not checked until you reconnect it, and its cards stay as they were. If Meta stops an account from running ads, Lift runs only its account checks, such as "Ad account disabled or flagged by Meta".

Disconnect, in the ⋮ menu on the row, stops Lift reading the account. Its open cards close with no money counted as saved.
