Parallel tracking and whether visitors can see Tapper's tracking
Parallel tracking is a Google Ads feature, not a Tapper setting. Tapper has no switch for it, and none for Google's Final URL suffix either: both live in your Google Ads account. What Tapper does is set the tracking template Google uses for each click on an account connected to a workspace with Block. Google decides how to run it.
What happens to a click
Tapper's account-level template sends each click to https://protect.tapper.ai/google-ads/click, together with the click's details and redirection_url={lpurl}, your landing page. Google runs that template in one of two ways:
- With parallel tracking, Google sends the visitor straight to your landing page and loads Tapper's address in the background.
- Without parallel tracking, the click goes to Tapper's address first, and Tapper redirects the visitor to the landing page in
redirection_url.
Either way the visitor ends up on the same page. Which campaigns and browsers use parallel tracking is Google's decision; Google explains it in About parallel tracking. There is nothing to change in Tapper either way.
For what the template carries and where to find it, see The Google Ads tracking template: what Tapper sets and why.
Will visitors notice Tapper?
Nothing appears on your page. The monitoring script adds no visible element; its only markup is a noscript image for browsers with JavaScript turned off.
Someone who goes looking can see Tapper, as with any tag on a website:
- In the page source, or in your tag manager: the monitoring script, which loads
https://monitor.tapper.ai/bundle.js. - In the browser's developer tools, on the Network tab: requests to
protect.tapper.aiandfingerprint.tapper.ai, and, without parallel tracking, the click passing throughprotect.tapper.ai/google-ads/clickon its way to your page. - In Google Ads: anyone with access to your account sees Tapper's template under Admin, Account settings, Tracking.
To see these requests yourself, follow Check that the monitoring script is working on your site.
