Pixel Guard (earlier called Clean Signal Guard)

On this page

Pixel Guard, called Clean Signal Guard in earlier versions of Tapper, stops advertising pixels from firing on traffic Tapper has identified as invalid. Its full article is Pixel Guard: keep invalid sessions out of your ad platform signals.

Why it matters

Ad platforms optimise on the signals they receive. When bots, scrapers, competitors or other low-quality visitors trigger your pixels, those signals feed back into bidding, targeting and conversion modelling. That can lead to:

  • higher CPAs
  • less stable performance
  • distorted audience and conversion signals

How it works

When Tapper classifies a session as invalid, Pixel Guard holds back the advertising pixels on it. The ad platform receives no signal from that session, so its optimisation learns from cleaner data.

Turn it on

  1. In the sidebar, under Setup, click Rule sets and pick the rule set.
  2. Open the Detection features tab and switch on Block tracking pixels for invalid traffic. It is off by default in a new rule set.

Pixel Guard works through the monitoring script, so the script must be installed on your pages.
