No clicks on the dashboard: what to check
Total Clicks at zero, or empty charts for days your ads ran? Work down this list in order. The first checks take seconds and solve most cases.
Why it happens
With Block, Tapper sees an ad click through the monitoring script on your landing page and, on Google Ads, the tracking template it sets. An empty dashboard usually means the wrong view, unfinished setup, or something stopping the script or template.
Fix it
1. Check the view
- No Demo data banner at the top. If there is one, press Turn off demo data.
- A date range in which your ads ran. The default is the last 7 days in your workspace time zone.
- The platform toggle on All platforms, and no leftover Add filter filters (such as Protection script or Ads account).
2. Give it a few hours
Dashboard numbers refresh every 4 hours, so the last few hours may not be counted yet, especially right after setup.
3. Check that the entity is set up
- With several entities, pick the right one in the sidebar switcher.
- Not connected or Needs attention on its chip means something is missing; the help beside the chip says what. Protected and Monitor-only confirm setup, not traffic.
- On each platform's tab, an account marked Needs reconnecting, Not active or Needs attention is skipped by Tapper's syncs. See Reconnect an ad account that stopped working.
Selecting a platform with no connected account on the dashboard shows a banner to connect one.
4. Check the monitoring script on your landing pages
- It must run on every page your ads send visitors to. Test it: Check that the monitoring script is working on your site.
- It runs only on the domains under Protected domains in Setup > Website > Domains. Check the spelling and add every landing domain.
- A Content-Security-Policy header must allow Tapper's sources. See Allow Tapper in your Content Security Policy.
- On Overview, the Clicks & failed script load % card (Script load section) shows a Failed load rate as a share of Google Ads clicks. A high rate means the script did not load on many of them.
5. Check for Google Ads tracking that skips Tapper
Some ads skip Tapper's tracking means some items carry their own tracking template. Click Fix tracking: Fix campaigns, ad groups or ads that override Tapper's tracking. If one Google Ads account serves several entities, see Use the tracking template at campaign level.
6. Check your cookie policy and consent
On Setup > Website > Monitoring, Cookie policy is Region-based, Cookie first or Consent first. With Consent first, your consent banner must call window.tapper.consent("GRANTED"); or window.tapper.consent("DENIED");. Check whether Recognise visitors without cookies is still on (the default). See Cookie policy, consent snippets and recognizing visitors without cookies.
7. Look for traffic Tapper can't see
- Call ads dial a phone number and never open your website.
- Platforms you haven't connected: the Sources tab of Traffic (Owners, Admins and Managers) lists their traffic over the last 30 days. See The Sources page.
Three cases that are not a fault
- Lift only workspace: no monitoring script or Clicks page; the dashboard shows Lift's figures.
- Monitor-only: clicks are counted, not blocked, and tiles read Total Invalid, IP-Flagged Visitors and Wasted Spend. See Monitor-only.
- A different time zone in Google Ads: the workspace time zone (Settings > General > Time zone) decides the day a click counts in. Clicks move between days; they do not vanish.
