Doesn't Google already filter invalid clicks?

On this page

Partly. Google filters some invalid clicks and does not charge you for them, but it adds nothing to your account's exclusions: the same IP or device can click your ad again tomorrow. Tapper Block writes an exclusion for each flagged source into your ad account, so that source stops seeing your ads.

What Google does

Google filters on its own rules, the same for every advertiser. For invalid clicks you were charged for, you file a claim yourself on Google's Click Quality form. Google investigates only up to 60 days after a click and credits only charged clicks. The credit comes after the budget was spent, and the source is still active.

What Tapper does

  • Google Ads: the IP is excluded on your Search, Display, Shopping and Demand Gen campaigns (Google allows at most 500 IP exclusions per campaign), and the visitor joins the Invalid Traffic Audience, which Tapper excludes from your protected campaigns.
  • Meta Ads and Microsoft Ads: Tapper excludes its audience of invalid visitors on every ad set (Meta Ads) or campaign (Microsoft Ads) whose Protection switch is on.
  • TikTok Ads: Tapper records and reports the invalid traffic and leaves your ad groups as they are.

The rules are yours. Ten clicks from one IP in a day may be normal for one business and invalid for another, so you set the ad click limit ("Block after [N] clicks within [M] [unit]"). Suggest limits adds presets for your industry.

Where you see it

The Exclusions page lists each excluded visitor with its Ads account, Campaign, IP address and Block reason. On a monitor-only workspace the page is titled Flagged traffic.

You can still claim the credit

The Refunds page builds the evidence file for Google's form from the clicks Tapper blocked. Choose a period of up to 30 days and the block reason tiers, then click Generate report. You attach the file to Google's form yourself; Tapper does not submit the claim.
