How does Tapper exclude invalid IPs and users?
Once blocking is on, Tapper applies exclusions across Google Ads using only the methods Google's API offers, so what a campaign gets depends on its type.
| Campaign type | IP exclusions | Audience exclusion | Value rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search | Yes | Yes, on the campaign | Yes |
| Display | Yes | Yes, on the campaign | Yes |
| Shopping | Yes | Yes, on the campaign | Yes |
| Demand Gen | Yes, as each click is flagged | Yes, on each ad group | No |
| Performance Max | No | Yes, on the campaign | No |
| Video | No | No | No |
- IP exclusions stop a campaign's ads showing to a flagged IP. Google allows at most 500 per campaign.
- Audience exclusion keeps flagged visitors out through Tapper's list, whatever their IP.
- Value rule halves the conversion value Google's bidding gives flagged visitors, so it bids less for them.
- Campaign-level exclusions apply only to campaigns whose Protection switch is on.
- Google takes no IP exclusions on Performance Max or Video. To cover Video, add Tapper's list by hand: Audience Exclusion.
